Orchids

Orchids from the temperate to tropical regions of the world, long narrow strap-like leaves and flower spikes grow from the thickened bulb-like leaf stems. Orchid blooms are very showy and can last for up to three months. Some species of orchids also have very delicate scented flowers. Some people suggest that orchids are best grown outdoors and then brought indoors when in flower. Alternatively, grow your orchids in cool sunroom.

To encourage flowering, keep your orchids pot bound. Use special orchid compost or orchid mix in your pots. You can propagate your orchid by division, and is recommend to keep a minimum of three bulbs per pot.
